In addition to the nationwide curfew for a month and extending the ban on entry of expats into the country until further notice, the Kuwaiti government also announced on Thursday a reintroduction to the limit on passengers for Taxis. They are only permitted to transport two passengers.

Last year, owners of taxi companies affected by the decision to limit passengers to one in taxis as a measure against the coronavirus, carried out a sit-in to protest the decision

The owners presented a list of grievances wherein they mentioned the decision made it difficult to meet their financial obligations including rents, vehicle installments, employee salaries, and building rents.

Another reason given for the difficulty in implementing the decision was their routine passengers included families or a woman with her children. Once again it seems the problems for legitimate taxi drivers, and the owners are rearing their ugly head.
