Travelers can request refunds for canceled tickets between December 21 till January 1

Travelers have the right to request refunds for travel tickets, hotel reservations and other tourist services that were cancelled from the date of December 21, 2020 until the end of January 1, 2021, regardless of whether the reservations were refundable or non-refundable, without any deductions from the value of the costs, Al Qabas daily reported.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a circular directing all airlines and travel and tourism agencies operating in Kuwait to fulfil their refund obligations.

Travellers are also entitled to request refunds to the amount in cash or through a credit card, or to have available balance for a period of one year from the date of this circular, dependent on the traveller’s desire.

DGCA also noted the service fees for travel and tourism offices or the airline company will be deducted in the event of direct reservations, with a value of KD10 dinars only for each flight ticket and other tourism services for the period referred to above.

The administration has granted airlines, travel, and tourism agencies a deadline till February 13, 2021, to act on the circular.

DGCA also mentioned that in the event of a violation of the above-mentioned instructions, complaints and their issues will be referred to the Complaints and Arbitration Committee for decision and action in accordance with the stipulated regulations governing the travel and transport market in Kuwait.
