Two workers were slightly injured on Thursday while conducting regular maintenance work for a unit at the Mina Abdullah refinery, Kuwait’s National Petroleum Company (KNPC) spokesman Abdullah Al-Ajmi said. Al-Ajmi said in a statement issued by the company that the accident occurred at exactly 10.50 am (07:50 GMT) today, as the workers were subjected to heavy smoke from the remaining oil treatment unit No. 12 during regular maintenance work and were immediately transferred to the medical clinic for treatment.
He said that the workers’ condition is “reassuring”, stressing that the company has taken the necessary measures to address the causes of this incident. He noted that the maintenance process for the unit is continuing according to its planned program.
